Frequently Asked Questions
My breasts are bulging out over the top or sides of the cup of my bra and my bust looks lumpy under my clothes.
This is a sure sign that the cup size you are wearing is too small. Your breasts should be totally encased in the cups. Try at least a cup size bigger.
My bra rides up my back or moves around as I move.
This is a very common mistake caused by wearing a bra with a band size that is too big. The band of the bra should sit around your body snugly. The bra will only move around if it is too big. If this is happening you need change your bra with a smaller band size. BUT REMEMBER if you decrease your band size, you need to increase your cup size.
The bra under wires stick out at the front or dig in under my arms.
When the wires stick out or dig in, it's often because the cup size is too small and your breasts are forcing the bra away from your body. Try a bigger cup size so that the wires lie flat against your body and fully encase your breasts.
The cups are wrinkly, particularly at top and at the sides.
This is usually a sign that the cup size is too big so you may want to try a cup size smaller.
How often should I check my bra size?
We recommend that you check that your bra fits you properly at six-months or more often. Our breasts change for all sorts of reasons during our lifetime including changes in weight, aging, pregnancy, having children, use of the contraceptive pill and other forms of medications.
If my bra is not supportive enough, should I tighten up the shoulder straps?
The main support provided by a bra comes from the band around your back and the shoulder straps should lie comfortably on your skin. If your shoulder straps are digging in, you are most likely to be wearing a bra with a band size that is too big. You may need a bra with a smaller band size. Alternatively, you may simply need to loosen the shoulder straps.
MYTHS EXPLAINED
A loose bra is more comfortable.
Fact: A bra that is too large in the back (i.e. the band size) causes the most discomfort. A loose bra cannot support your bust and so the weight of your bust is transferred to the shoulder straps. The band should be snug and the shoulder straps should only stabilize the bra.
You should buy a bra that is on the tightest hooks.
Fact: You should buy a bra that fits snugly and firmly on the loosest position. Most bras will stretch over time through wear. If you buy the bra on the loosest fit, you will be able to simply adjust the band to the next hook available.
A minimizer bra will make you look smaller.
Fact: Exactly opposite! - A minimizer bra flattens the breasts downward and to the sides of your body, which gives a wider and thicker appearance to your body. We don't recommend them!
